The Monadnock Ledger-Transcript app, available for download on Apple and Android devices, now has many more features.

Readers have been able to use the free app to read a digital replica of the print newspaper, known as the e-edition. Starting this week, an upgraded app will allow subscribers to read breaking news and the Ledger-Transcript’s latest stories throughout the day in addition to the e-edition.

The improved app will allow for news alerts, so readers can set up their accounts to receive notifications about current events in the Monadnock region, and it allows them to customize their news feeds.

Subscribers who already have the app installed on a device will receive a notification asking to update to the new version of the app. Updating is not required but recommended. The updated version of the app is available in app stores Thursday morning.

In the coming weeks, the Ledger-Transcript will introduce Puzzmo, a collection of free digital puzzles that can be played on desktop computers, tablets and smartphones. It will include word games such as a daily crossword and word searches, as well as visual puzzles and an online version of chess. Players will be able to track their scores and compete against other users.

Print subscribers can access these digital features by registering their account online. To register a print subscription, visit tinyurl.com/56dv2kaj.
