The Optimist Cafe, 16 Colls Farm Road, Jaffrey, will host a night of music and spoken word Tuesday, March 19, from 6 to 9 p.m.

After a dinner with entree, salad and dessert at 6 p.m., Jack Henry will perform at 7 p.m. Henry is a singer, musician and songwriter who plays bass, dobro, lap steel and guitar and learned harmonies on road trips with his musical family. He is a founding member of Decatur Creek and recorded and produced with them and with Wendy Keith and Her Alleged Band. Decatur Creek’s new album is “The Hills of Antrim.”

At 7:30 p.m., storyteller and podcaster Sebastian Lockwood will tell the epics of Gilgamesh, Odysseus, Caesar, Beowulf and Monkey. He studied classics and anthropology at Boston University and Cambridge University. Lockwood launched two storytelling podcasts in 2022 – “Blowing Up Stumps – tales from New and Old England” with Maine storyteller Matt Gile and “Monkey – the Journey to the West.”

Singer, songwriter and composer Suzanne McGettigan performs at 8:15 p.m. Her song “A Place in the Woods” was recorded by Canadian artist Lucie Blue Tremblay on her album “Tranformations” after meeting at the Folkway. McGettigan is part of the local music duo McGettigan and Gilbert.
