The Sheepdogs defeated Awaken in a 10-7 slugfest in Peterborough co-ed softball action Wednesday night at Picard Field.

Awaken shortstop Joe Gutwein put his team on the board first with a leadoff home run. The Sheepdogs answered with two runs of their own in the bottom of the first and never looked back on their way to victory.

The adult co-ed softball league is sponsored by the Peterborough Recreation Department. The game is slow-pitch with games self-umpired. The season runs through mid-August with games played at Picard or Ecco fields. This year’s league consists of 12 teams.
