Downtown Jaffrey welcomed a new business last week, as T&W Handyman Services moved into a new location at 10 Stratton Road.

Owners Tina and Wayne St. Laurent were joined by friends, family and Team Jaffrey members to celebrate the move from their previous location on Squantum Road with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house, complete with hammer-shaped cookies courtesy of Baker’s Station in Peterborough.

And while the word “handyman” may bring up thoughts of small odd jobs and quick fixes, “We usually say, ‘Don’t let the name fool you!’ We’re a contractor by trade.” Tina said.

T&W Handyman Services offers bathroom and kitchen renovations, hardwood and luxury vinyl flooring, painting and staining, siding, windows and doors; decks and more – anything from small repairs to large projects.

“We do everything from the ground up,” Wayne said. “We started a handyman business to accommodate everything and everybody.”

Wayne has been in construction his whole life, and they opened T&W Handyman Services in October of 2020.

“Our kids had grown up, so we decided to open up our own [contracting business],” Tina said.

The St. Laurents considered a couple of different properties, and were initially hesitant on a location off Main Street, but ultimately decided on the Stratton Road property for its proximity to one of the planned roundabouts in downtown Jaffrey.

“Once the roundabout goes in, we’ll have just as much exposure as everyone else [on Main Street],” Wayne said. “And it’s a nice little homey space – not just an office space.”

It’s a space that may see a lot of use in the coming months, because Wayne said their phone was “ringing off the hook,” and they were booking all the way out into the fall.

The St. Laurents emphasized the importance of building loyal, regular clientele.

“We’ve had repeat customers since the day we started. We’ve had a lot of clients keep calling us back each year to do different things,” Wayne said. “It’s nice to build that rapport with the public.”

Wayne also emphasized that T&W Handyman Services is a family business.

“We don’t have a lot of employees who aren’t my family,” he said. “We prefer to stay small – keep it a little more intimate.”

As for the future, Wayne sees a long life for T&W.

“We have 13 grandchildren, and one more on the way – so as they grow, if they decide they want to get involved in the family business, they can,” he said.

“We’re very excited to welcome T&W Handyman Services to our downtown,” said Team Jaffrey executive director Tarah Castiglioni. “They’re wonderful people.”
