Wilton Collaborative Space, 21 Gregg St., will host the Wilton Folk Café coffeehouse series Friday, Feb. 2. Doors open at 7 p.m., with the show at 7:30 p.m..

The High Strung Strummers will be the featured performers. They specialize in the old-time dance music of Appalachia, and the performance of Anglo-American ballads that found their home in that region as well as the Ozarks. Vocalist Sarah Jane Nelson is a multi-instrumentalist and storyteller who has been playing traditional music for folk festivals, New England contra dances and other regional events for over a decade.

When she isn’t playing music, she writes stories about music for a variety of publications, including Old Time Herald and Fiddler Magazine. Her new book, “Ballad Hunting with Max Hunter: Stories of an Ozark Folksong Collector,” was published earlier this year.

Cathy Mason is a fiddler and music instructor who has spent two decades studying Southern fiddle music with the masters of that tradition. Recent and past appearances include Gore Place, Londonderry Old Home Day, Newton Community Farm Day, New England Folk Festival and the Lowell Banjo and Fiddle Contest. She is a fiddle instructor at Fiddle Hell weekends.

They will also be bringing their crankie show with them. For information on crankies, visit broniaevers.com/what-is-a-crankie-theatre.

Admission is free, and donations are appreciated. Refreshments are by the Friends of the Library. Reservations are suggested at strumma@aol.com or 603-654-1245.
