Fox News is running a false narrative that blames diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) at Boeing for its poor safety record.

Boeing had a hard-earned stellar safety record until it was merged with Douglas and the people who spent decades building the reputation of Boeing were squeezed out and replaced.

Hundreds of people died in accidents caused by single points of failure; anyone with a basic knowledge of engineering will freak out. Then their CEO, Dennis Muilenburg, was given a huge departure package, as he was contractually entitled to receive $62.2 million in stock and pension awards.

The real culprit at Boeing was the weakened regulations thanks to more than $65 million in lobbying efforts that allowed Boeing to “self-regulate” that gave a green light to greed.

So if you know someone who still thinks politics is just entertainment, and culture wars are amusing harmless cruelty-signaling, put this story in their mind and ask them if they want to buy a plane ticket. When someone makes a political statement that regulations are bad, just walk away. Also, you can be quite sure that DEI has absolutely nothing do with airplane safety and the entire purpose of this red herring is to hide corruption. Vote for people who represent you.
