Kentucky storyteller Paul Strickland bringing his “90 Lies An Hour” collection of fictional stories and songs to Peterborough Friday, March 15, at 7:30 p.m.

Directed by Peterborough native Erika MacDonald, valedictorian of the ConVal Class of 1997 valedictorian, this evening of story and song will be presented at Firelight Theater Workshop in their space at 70 Main St. in downtown Peterborough.

Strickland was a featured teller at the National Storytelling Festival in 2023 as well as other storytelling festivals around the country. The show won the Critics' Choice Award for "Best Solo Show, Comedy" at the Orlando Fringe Festival.

"We are thrilled to welcome back Paul and Erika to the Firelight Studio,” stated Firelight co-founder Nora Fiffer.

In 2022, Firelight hosted a performance of MacDonald’s solo show, “The Barn Identity,” which Strickland directed and underscored live on guitar.

“It was magical to host these two brilliant storytellers a few years ago,” Fiffer stated. “Collectively we hadn't gathered in a long time because of the pandemic, and these two filled the studio with humor and heart, giving us all a shared experience we really needed."

Strickland is a professional storyteller and theater artist who lives in Kentucky. In 2023, he was a featured teller at the National Storytelling Festival and at the Timpanogos Storytelling Festival. Collections of his stories have won "Best of Fest" honors more than 16 times at Fringe Theater Festivals in the United States and Canada. Selections from his comedy performance "Levels of Difficulty" are played nearly every day on SiriusXM radio.

MacDonald is an internationally touring theater-maker whose works have been featured off-Broadway and have won "Best of Fest" honors on over 10 different occasions at fringe theater festivals across the United States and Canada. She is known for her award-winning original solo shows “The Barn Identity,” “Evacuated!,” “Tap Me on the Shoulder” and “Fluid,”as well as her solo show directing and puppet designs.
