The Francestown Democratic Committee will hold a picnic featuring The Penniless Jacks Saturday, July 15, from 3:30 to 6 p.m. at the 106 Udall Road property of Susan Kane and Timothy Gotsick.

The Penniless Jacks perform modern takes on sea shanties, fiddle reels and both traditional and contemporary folk music. Led by JD Lauriat, a Francestown resident, the band has been performing since 2016. Lauriat provides drums and vocals, with Amanda Neves on violin and vocals and Andrew Prete and Dori French on guitars and vocals.

The picnic will also include bocce, badminton and cornhole. Special activities, featuring a scavenger hunt, will be offered for children. People can bring a salad, side dish or dessert to add to the pot luck buffet table, and there will be grilled veggie burger and hamburger platters available for sale.
