Hundreds of holiday shoppers attended Francestown’s first outdoor German Holiday Market on Saturday at the Francestown Meetinghouse horse stalls.
Organizer Pamela Berry, manager of the Francestown Community Market, said the vendors were thrilled with the outcome of the new event.
“It absolutely could not have worked out any better. My heart was just absolutely full to look around and see all these people,” she said. “I could not be more grateful that we were able to have such a successful day for our vendors, and for our community. We were pretty nervous about the timing because it was in between two storm systems, but the weather held off and it was a huge success. There were cars parked everywhere. People came from all over the place; a lot of people didn’t know about it, and just pulled over.”
Berry said the hot mulled cider was a huge hit, and that every food vendor had brisk sales, with some even running out of food by the end of the day.
“Everyone said to me, ‘Please, please do this again next year!’ ” Berry said. “Everyone thanked us for bringing the community together. It was just absolutely amazing.”
