Letter: Learn about your legislators

Published: 02-02-2023 9:01 AM

Seize the day, or "carpe diem" as it is said in Latin.

Do you know who your legislators are? Or do you know on which  committees they serve? What are their ideas and opinions and what are their plans for voting on particular bills? A democracy allows us to answer such questions, but only if we make the effort to seek out the information.

Here is your opportunity. Legislators from the towns of Antrim, Bennington, Francestown, Greenfield, Hancock, Peterborough and Sharon will be in the 1833 Room at the Peterborough Town Library on Tuesday, Feb. 7, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. to talk about their work in the context of their committee assignments and their plans for what they can accomplish in the next two years in the New Hampshire State House.

The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan organization that works to educate the public about legislative matters. Armed with knowledge, you can more easily decide for whom or for what your informed vote will be. Hear directly from your legislators and meet them in person.

We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, Feb. 7, at 6:30 p.m. Come early to get a good seat.
