‘Source To Sea’ cleanup slated for end of September

Monadnock Region residents will wade along the banks of the Ashuelot River and Beaver Brook on Friday, Sept. 27 and Saturday, Sept. 28 as part of the annual Connecticut River Conservancy’s Source to Sea Cleanup, a four state community event to cleanup of the Connecticut River and its tributaries.

Local sponsors include the Cheshire County Conservation District, the Ashuelot River Local Advisory Committee, the City of Keene, Keene State College, Moosewood Ecological, NH Water Works Association Young Professionals, and The Harris Center for Conservation Education.

Volunteers are needed and to find out more information on meeting sites, register with the Cheshire County Conservation District by calling 756-2988 ext.116 or emailing amanda@cheshireconservation.org and visit the cleanup event page at www.cheshireconservation.org/source-to-sea-cleanup.

Cleanup crews will start at 9 a.m. both days. Sites include locations in Keene and Swanzey. Volunteers do not require a boat but are encouraged to bring a boat and life jackets if available. Trash bags and gloves will be provided to all volunteers. Source to Sea Cleanup T-shirts will be given to the first 100 participants.
