All articles received unanimous support during Hancock Town Meeting Saturday, as the 120 residents went through the warrant in two hours.

The Select Board was given high marks for submitting an annual budget of $3.5 million, only 3.85% over the prior year, not including rises in the cost of health care and the need to replace certain key vacancies.

Apart from approving the budget, Town Meeting agreed to raise $390,210 for rebuilding the bridge on the town’s busiest road, Middle Road. Work is expected to begin in July, closing the road for an estimated five weeks.

Other articles included $19,950 to replace the heating system at the Department of Public Works administration building and $145,000 to lease a new dump truck with plow.

Town Meeting also approved establishing a Fogg Family Meetinghouse Clock Fund and appropriate $20,000 from donations, as well as a Fire Department Expendable Trust Fund with $9,045 from donations and a Police Vehicle Capital Reserve Fund with $15,000 from fund balance. 

Other funding articles were $40,000 for the Bridge Capital Reserve Fund, $20,000 for the Building Capital Reserve Fund, $50,000 for the DPW Machinery, Equipment and Vehicle Capital Reserve Fund, $10,000 for the Meetinghouse Capital Reserve Fund, $28,000 for the Revaluation Capital Reserve Fund, $2,118 for the Highway Special Revenue Fund, $600 for the History Special Revenue Fund, $4,542 for the Police Special Revenue Fund and $6,350 for the Recreation Special Revenue Fund.

On the occasion of her retirement, Select Board Chair Laurie Bryan was presented flowers and given a standing ovation in recognition of her six terms over the years as a Select Board member.
