Briana Boulerice, Katie L’Ecuyer and Kristyn Simoneau capped successful swimming seasons Sunday at the Division II swimming and diving championships at the University of New Hampshire.

Both swimmers competed in two events, each swimming personal bests.

Boulerice, a sophomore at Mascenic, placed 7th in the 50 meter freestyle with a time of 26.52, a personal best. She followed that performance up with the 100 meter freestyle recording a time of 1:00.06, good for 12th. “Overall I am very excited with my results from this season,” Boulerice said after her final race. “I improved my times throughout the season and swam a personal record at the state meet. I cannot wait to see where I’ll be next year.”

Andrea Sbona, coach of the Mascenic swim team, was pleased with Boulerice’s performance, “She lowered her time and scored points for the team, that’s all we can ask for.”

L’Ecuyer, a junior at Conant, placed 6th in both the 100 breaststroke and 100 butterfly, with times of 1:02.91 and 1:12.62, good for two new personal bests. “Looking back, it was a fantastic season. I had the most amazing support from everyone and finished with two personal best times at the state meet.”

L’Ecuyer’s times in both events gave her new school records, but she was quick to point out that another Conant record had fallen.

“It’s amazing, seeing Kristyn Simoneau break the 100 backstroke record,” L’Ecuyer said. Simoneau, a freshman, swam a personal best 1:06.55, placing 8th overall.

The top six finishers in each event qualify for the Meet of Champions, which will not be taking place this year because of weather cancellations. This is a similar situation to last season, when the New England Championships were canceled because of weather.

L’Ecuyer expressed her disappointment following her final race. “I was looking forward to swimming at the meet of champions, I love big atmospheres and it would have been an amazing experience, unfortunately I can’t change the weather.”

Both Mascenic and Conant were able to bring along relay teams to the state meet. The Conant relay squad comprised of, freshmen Katie and Kristyn Simoneau, L’Ecuyer, and junior Molly Caouette took 8th in both the 200 and 400 freestyle relay. The Mascenic team: freshmen Emese Sexton and Becka St. Cyr, Boulerice, and Junior Kailey Allen finished 16th in the 200 freestyle relay.
