Running analysis at Cheshire Medical

The Farnum Rehabilitation Center at Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth-Hitchcock Keene now has a new Running Gait Analysis program for those who want to improve their running efficiency and reduce the stresses associated with improper running technique.

Led by Maria Oberlander, physical therapist with graduate training in biomechanics and exercise physiology, includes a thorough evaluation of strength and range-of-motion using clinical methods and high-speed video analysis. The evaluation helps to identify movement abnormalities that could limit performance or lead to potential injuries.

Analysis includes a one-hour physical evaluation and treadmill high-speed video gait analysis; 30 minute follow-up evaluation; independent study materials to optimize biomechanics and address muscle weakness and tightness; footwear recommendations; and a copy of the video. Some health insurance plans may cover or reimburse the $250 fee and runners are encouraged to check their individual plan for more information. No referral necessary.
