The deadline for changing party affiliation ahead of the September Primary Election is approaching, and the state is allowing voters to change their parties by mail, rather than in person.

June 2 is the deadline for voters to change their party affiliation prior to the upcoming election on Sept. 8. It will not be possible for voters to change their party affiliation on election day. Undeclared voters can choose a party on the day of the primary.

If you do not know your current party status, it can be verified through the state at bit.ly/2lwAHSS.

For those that wish to change their party affiliation prior to the election, they can do so by mail, a change allowed by Governor Chris Sununu’s Emergency Order 43.

A change of party affiliation form can be downloaded at the New Hampshire Secretary of State’s website at sos.nh.gov, under 2020 Election Information, and may also be available on your town website. Voters can print the form and mail it to the office of the town clerk in the town they reside and are registered to vote.

For those who do not have internet or computer access, change of party forms are also available at the Jaffrey Belletetes for residents to pick up.

The Supervisors of the Checklist in Antrim will hold a session for the correction of the checklist and accepting applications for voter registration or change of political party affiliation on June 2 at 7 p.m.

The session will be held online in accordance with Emergency Order #12, issued by Gov. Sununu on March 23. The public cannot attend in person. Voters seeking to change political party affiliation must have the completed form to the town clerk before 5 p.m. on June 2.

The Supervisors of the Checklist for the Town of Greenfield will hold a session for the correction of the checklist and will be accepting applications for voter registration or change of political party affiliation on Tuesday, June 2, from 7 to 7:30 p.m. at the Town Office Building, 7 Sawmill Road, Greenfield, at the newly installed walk up window.

In Peterborough, the Supervisors of the Checklist will be meeting on June 2, from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. at the Town House for the purpose of new registrations, corrections and updates to the checklist. Bring photo ID, proof of residency and citizenship paperwork.
