A former Antrim man is scheduled to have a competency hearing in Hillsborough Superior Court North next month.

Michael Annis, 58, is facing seven charges of sexual abuse and kidnapping in connection with an alleged incident involving a girl under the age of 13.

Annis, who is listed as residing at 28 Main Street on district court documents, faces four charges of aggravated felonious sexual assault against a victim under the age of 13, one count of aggravated felonious sexual assault — pattern sexual assault, and two counts of kidnapping. The charges all include a victim, who is referred to as “K.L.” in the district court indictment.

Annis has been under investigation by authorities since September. In May, he waived extradition.

A competency hearing is held when a legitimate competency question surfaces. The defendant has a right to a hearing to determine fitness to withstand a trial. Courts have the ability to order psychological evaluations of defendants. Annis’ hearing will take place on Oct. 24.
