ConVal schools reopening Friday, bus routes limited

ConVal schools will reopen Friday, March 17, two hours late and with limited bus routes.

According to a statement from Superintendent Kimberly Rizzo Saunders, many roads are too narrow for buses to travel after Tuesday’s snowstorm, so the district will be running bus routes on main roads only. The district is asking families to bring students to specific locations or drive students to school themselves. The two-hour delay is so families have the time needed to bring their students to a centralized stop.

Families will receive the locations of bus stops and approximate times for those stops between 5 and 6 p.m. Thursday, via email from students’ principals, along with the district website and social media platforms.

“We recognize that this arrangement may not work for everyone. As a result, if you choose to keep your child home or are unable to bring your child to the central bus location, their absence tomorrow will be marked as excused,” Rizzo Saunders stated. “Our goal is to provide every student with the opportunity to attend school tomorrow. This is neither an ideal situation nor a perfect solution, but it is the fabric of our district to embrace difficult situations and make the best of challenging circumstances. Thank you for your support and patience as we navigate the impacts of this significant snowstorm.”
