Nearly every local runner who stepped onto Nashua’s Mine Falls course for Saturday’s cross-country Meet of Champions set a new personal record, led by Mascenic’s Landen Vaillancourt, who placed third overall in the boys’ race in 15:26.2.

Vaillancourt had hoped for an MOC title to go along with last week’s Division III state championship, but the favorite, senior Jake Velazquez of Division I Keene, won the boys’ race in 15:12.5. Freshman Aidan Cox of Division II Coe-Brown was second in 15:26.2 as the Bears ran away with the boys’ team title with 57 points.

Mascenic placed 11th as a team with 292 points. Following Vaillancourt across the finish line for the Vikings:

Connor Traffie, 61st, 16:44.9 (PR)

Josh Movsessian, 77th, 16:52.1 (PR)

Zack Allen, 91st, 17:08.4 (PR)

Jethro Somero, 112th, 17:43.7 (PR)

Drew Traffie, 118th, 17:50.9 (PR)

Ryan O’Shea, 129th, 18:11.8 (PR)

The ConVal boys were hot on the Vikings’ heels, finishing 12th as a team with 301 points. Senior Harrison Kim set a personal record of his own with his 16:20.8 finish, good for 38th overall. Also running well for ConVal:

August Kotula, 63rd, 16:45.5 (PR)

Tyler Beard, 71st, 16:50 (PR)

 Danny Veverka, 74th, 16:51.5 (PR)

Haven Desch  enes, 108th, 17:38.8 (PR)

Abe Dreher, 117th, 17:50.9 (PR)

Jamini Viles, 128th, 18:10.1 (PR)

Conant repeated last week’s third-place finish in Division III by finishing 16th overall, third in DIII behind Mascenic and Campbell.

Senior Chris Taylor and sophomore Ethan Vitello finished 66th and 67th, respectively, with Taylor getting a PR in 16:46.7 and Vitello also setting a personal best at 16:48.2. Also finishing for Conant:

Ethan Weinhold, 105th, 17:33.8 (PR)

Trevor Pierce, 125th, 18:05.2 (PR)

John Mormando, 131st, 18:39.8

Daniel McIntyre, 138th, 19:24.3 (PR)

No local runners or teams qualified for the girls’ race; Caroline Fischer of Bishop Guertin won the race in 17:55.3. Souhegan won the team title, with Chloe Trudel (second, 17:59.5), Georgia Jones (fourth, 18:11.2) and Mackenzie Hayden (fifth, 18:11.7) all in the top five.
