Following the 2022 election, the New Hampshire State House of Representatives was almost evenly split between Republicans and Democrats, with the final breakdown to be determined by who wins various recounts.

One of those recounts was in Hillsborough County District 42, which includes Lyndeborough, Mont Vernon and New Boston. However, it did not produce any changes, as Republican incumbents Keith Ammon, Gerald Griffin and Lisa C.M. Post held on to their Election Day wins over Democrats Karen Roach, Richard Backus and Brian Paquette. The closest result after the Nov. 8 election was a three-vote margin for Ammon over Roach, 2,639-2,636, but Ammon picked up 10 votes in the recount while Paquette only added five, him an eight-vote margin.

In Hillsborough District 45, which includes Brookline, Greenville, Hollis and Mason, Democrat Karen Colabro held a 10-vote advantage over Republican Colton Skorupan after the election. A recount was scheduled for Nov. 21.

Another local race heading toward a recount is Hillsborough County Register of Deeds, where Democrat Mary Ann Crowell held a 81,450-81,388 lead over Republican Dennis Hogan after the election. That recount is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 29.
