A hiker was carried off Mount Monadnock in Jaffrey on Saturday

On Saturday Sept. 29, at 8:49 p.m., Fish and Game Conservation Officers were notified of an ongoing incident involving a hiker below the summit of Mount Monadnock. Department of Natural and Cultural Resources Mountain Patrol Rangers had been assisting a young woman down the White Dot Trail since 5 p.m.

The 17-year-old from Lynn, Massachusetts was fatigued and could no longer physically continue, Fish and Game said in a press release.

A team of rescuers comprised of Department of Natural and Cultural Resources Mountain Patrol Rangers, Volunteers, Jaffrey Fire Department, Jaffrey Police Department, and Conservation Officers assisted with a carryout. The overdue hiker and rescue team reached Monadnock State Park Headquarters at noon. The hiker was released to family members. No further information is available at this time.
