The Francestown Patriotic Purposes Committee organized the town’s annual Veterans Day parade on Saturday, which takes place every year at at 11 a.m. on the 11th of November. The committee is made up of three veterans or spouses of veterans, with  Scott Carbee currently serving as  chair and Michael Tartalis and Polly Freese as board members. The Law family collected donations for poppies on the Town Common lawn. The parade included area veterans, local Girl and Boy Scouts and the Francestown 4-H Club members.

After a short march from the Town Hall walkway, around the Fairbanks Scale triangle, the color guard stopped in front of the Memorial Rock. Tartalis spoke about the origins of Veterans Day and the significance of poppies. After the Pledge of Allegiance, the presentation of the wreath by veteran George Whipple, a gun salute by the firing squad and closing prayer by American Legion Post 50 Chaplain Ted Brown, the service closed with two ConVal students, in full band uniforms, playing “Taps” and the echo. Most of the assembled crowd returned to the Town Hall for lunch.

The Francestown Elementary School PTO put on a luncheon directed by FES PTO President Laura Mafera and assisted by Molly Cook and Laura Wilsher. The event included the drawing for a handcrafted quilt. For many years, an anonymous “quilt angel" in the community has donated to an attending veteran through the Francestown Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. This year's recipient was Don Sipe of Francestown, who as an Air Force veteran carried the colors as a member of the color guard. A “Missing Man'” table was viewed in honor of POWs and those who have not returned from wars.
