A Jaffrey man and his accomplice have been indicted on forgery charges, according to court records.

Robert Cooper, 30, was indicted by a Hillsborough County Superior Court grand jury earlier this month on a charge of forgery and attempted theft by deception. His accomplice, Bianca Pelkey, 26, of Bradford, was indicted on the same two charges.

All four charges are relative to an incident that occurred on September 20, 2015, when Cooper and Pelkey attempted to cash a forged check in the amount of $400, while in Bedford.

All four charges are class B felonies, each carrying a penalty of three and a half years to seven years in New Hampshire state prison or up to a $4,000 fine.

Cooper has twice been convicted of theft, according to court documents.

An indictment does not indicate guilt or innocence, but means that a jury found sufficient evidence to bring a case to trial.
