Conant Class of 2022 graduate Ethan Vitello of Jaffrey is the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript’s 2022 Male Athlete of the Year.

Vitello was a member of the Orioles’ boys’ soccer, cross-country and track and field teams. In the fall, he helped lead Conant to their second straight soccer playoff appearance and into the quarterfinals; at the same time, he was the Orioles’ top finisher at the state cross-country meet, where he finished 18th and Conant took fifth as a team.

Conant didn’t have a true indoor track season, but Vitello and a handful of others competed when and where they could in order to prepare for the spring outdoor season, where he helped lead the Orioles to a state championship. Vitello finished as the Division III champion in the 200M, ran a leg of the DIII champ 4x400 relay team and beat everyone in the state at triple jump at the Meet of Champions.

Vitello leaves Conant as the school’s individual record-holder in triple jump and the 200M and as part of the record-setting 4x200M and 4x800M relay teams.
