The Mason School District, which operates Mason Elementary School and pays tuition to send students to Milford Middle School and Milford High School, held elections Thursday, with residents approving all articles on the warrant.

They elected to pass the newly proposed budget of $3,166,237 by a vote of 117 to 8. Had it failed, the district would have operated on the default budget, which was about $3,700 more. Compared to the current year’s budget, voted on in March 2016, this budget is 1.56 percent higher.

Mason residents also voted to approve articles accepting all audits and reports, raising and appropriating $20,000 for the special education reserve fund, and raising and appropriating $5,000 for the building maintenance funds.

Tim Leak and Nancy Richards were elected to the school board. Leak is an incumbent and ran unopposed. Richards was a write-in candidate. Rebecca Partridge was elected district clerk, and long-time incumbent Catherine Schwenk was voted district moderator.

The first meeting of the new-look school board was Monday, March 20, next will be April 17.
