Not guilty plea in sex abuse case

An Antrim man who is facing seven counts in connection with an alleged sexual abuse and kidnapping of a girl under the age of 13 entered a not guilty plea in late May.

Michael Annis, 52, was indicted in April for aggravated felonious sexual assault, aggravated felonious sexual assault – pattern sexual assault – three counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault without penetration against a victim under the age of 13. He also faces two charges of kidnapping.

Each of the four aggravated felonious sexual assault charges and the one aggravated felonious sexual assault - pattern sexual assault charges constitute Class A felonies, which carry a prison sentence of 10 to 30 years in prison and a $4,000 fine. The two kidnapping charges are both Class B felonies, which carry a prison sentence of three and a half years to seven years and a $4,000 fine if sentenced.

The occurrences allegedly took place between July 22, 2015 and September 19, 2016. The crimes are thought to have been committed in Antrim.

Annis is currently living in Florida, according to records in Hillsborough Superior Court North. 

The court has a target trial date on January 16, 2018.
