A Jaffrey non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the town’s downtown area has found its next executive director.

Stephanie Niemela, a 15-year Jaffrey resident and Temple native, has been announced as the next leader of TEAM Jaffrey, officially taking the helm last week.

“This is such a great town, it really makes you proud to be here,” said Niemela. “I’m looking forward to the opportunity of being able to promote Jaffrey.

TEAM Jaffrey Board of Directors President Dominique Caissie said the board knew almost immediately that Niemela was the person for the job, adding that she is excited to see what Niemela can do to improve TEAM Jaffrey’s already strong base.

“When she walked out [after the interview] we didn’t say anything to each other, but we knew we had the perfect person,” said Caissie. “She has a strong background in organizing massive events and a lot of experience working with people.”

Niemela previously spent 10 years working with Jim Grant at SDE in Peterborough as an onsite coordinator and later a national meeting planner, organizing educational conferences around that county that were attended by 1,500 to 3,000 educational professionals. Niemela also dealt with a number of local Chambers of Commerce across the country during her tenure.

Niemela also worked for Liberty Mutual Insurance in Keene as a financial operations representative for seven years.

Helping the community is not a foreign concept to Niemela, as has spent time volunteering in the local schools, the Little League, and a number of non-profits.

Niemela said she is most excited to begin working with the community and downtown merchants to show every one how great a community the town of Jaffrey is.
