Temple Town Hall has received a $65,000 audio and visual upgrade that will allow community members to stream future meetings, open-mic nights and plays.

The building, located on Main Street, has been undergoing major improvements this summer, including a new roof. The new audiovisual system, installed last week, includes a large projector, a full sound system seven microphones and a video camera in the main hall.

According to Select Board Chair Bill Ezell, the final piece of streaming equipment is on back order. Once the installation is finished, the new technology will improve audio and presentation capabilities in the main hall. The new system will be paired with high-speed internet from Fidium, which is currently accessible to nearly 90 percent of Temple residents.

Ezell said the upgrade was made possible by COVID-19 relief funds from the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA). Since the fall of 2021, the Select Board and Community Advisory Committee have used a portion of $148,000 from ARPA funds into the new roof and new AV equipment for the town hall.

Ezell said Temple residents have been eager to see improvements to keep the town hall functioning.

“People have been looking to modernize the town hall for quite a while,” said Ezell.

The new audio and visual system will be fully operational next month.
