The Park Theatre’s River Street Theatre will screen the 2018 Sundance Film Festival Short Film Tour, a 91-minute theatrical program of seven short films selected from this year’s Festival, on Sat., Aug. 4, at 7 p.m. and Wed., Aug. 8 at 2 p.m.

Short on time but big on style, the Short Film Tour features a wide variety of storytelling, including fiction, documentary and animation from around the globe. Three of the films in the program won Short Film Jury Awards at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival.

For more than 30 years, the Sundance Film Festival Shorts Program has widely been considered the premier showcase for short films and the launchpad for many now-prominent independent filmmakers, including Damien Chazelle, Paul Thomas Anderson and David O. Russell and many others.

Each year the Festival receives more than 8,000 short film submissions, selecting 60-80 to show. The Festival programs a collection of shorts from its most recent Festival to go on a theatrical tour to independent art houses in more than 70 cities nationwide. It is one of very few theatrical releases of short films in the United States.

Mike Plante, Senior Programmer for Sundance Film Festival, said, “For the past few years, our Short Film Tour has traveled across the United States to reach new audiences who might not get a chance to see these amazing films. This year’s program will make you laugh, cringe and maybe even question your entire life, but it certainly will not disappoint.”

CEO and managing director of The Park Theatre Steve Jackson said. “We are thrilled to have the Sundance Film Festival Shorts Tour come for a second year to the RST. Some of the coolest storytellers focus on short-form filmmaking, and we can’t wait to highlight their projects for our regional audience!”

The 2018 Sundance Film Festival Short Film Tour presentation is part of The Park Theatre Summer Festival 2018 that runs through September.

Tickets for 2018 Sundance Film Festival Short Film Tour (NR) are $8. Seniors, military, students & teachers are $7.00.
