Saxophonist Paul Klemperer, a prominent figure in the Austin, Texas music scene, will present a concert in the Nelson Town Hall on Saturday, July 27, at 7 p.m.

Born in Boston, Klemperer discovered jazz at an early age, sneaking into smokey clubs by age 13.

The World Jazz Project is a result of Klemperer’s collaborations with musicians from Latin America, Africa, India, Eastern Europe and other regions of our global culture. Using jazz as the filter, Klemperer explores the exciting rhythms and melodies from these diverse traditions to discover new musical possibilities. For this concert Klemperer is joined by pianist Eugene Uman, who has taught and performed extensively in the U.S. and Latin America, as a soloist, and in collaboration with some of the top names in jazz. In addition to an impressive performance resume, Uman is the director of the Vermont Jazz Center.

Klemperer and Uman will create an exciting musical dialogue in World Jazz, supported by Steve Cady on bass and George Robinson on drums.

There is a suggested donation of $10 for the concert. For more info, visit gordonpeerymusic.com.
