“The Art of the Cello”, with Keith Robinson, cello and Mihae Lee, piano, will be presented on June 10 at 4 p.m., at the First Church in Jaffrey. The concert is the first in Electric Earth’s “Electric Summer” series, which spans the summer months with eight diverse programs.

Robinson and Lee have spent their careers mastering the subtleties of the cello-piano repertoire.

Robinson is a founding member of the Miami String Quartet and has been active as a chamber musician, recitalist, and soloist since his graduation from the Curtis Institute of Music. His solo appearances with orchestra include the New World Symphony, The American Sinfonietta, and the Miami Chamber Symphony. In 1989 he won the P.A.C.E. “Classical Artist of the Year” Award.

Lee has appeared frequently at international chamber music festivals. In addition to many years of performing regularly at Bargemusic in New York, she has been a guest artist with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, and Speculum Musicae and has collaborated with the Juilliard, Tokyo, Muir, Cassatt, and Manhattan string quartets.

The program will include J.S. Bach: “Sonata in G Major, BWV 1027”; Debussy: “Sonata for cello and piano in D minor”; Carter Brey: “Tango para Ilaria” for solo cello; Mendelssohn: “Sonata for cello and piano in D Major, Op. 58.”

Tickets are $25, and are available online at http://electricearthconcerts.org or at the door. Middle school and high school students are welcome to attend for free.
