Once again the canoes and kayaks of Bennington will take to the Contoocook River in the Annual Bennington River Paddle. After a hiatus of a year due to physical distancing, the Bennington Conservation Commission is once again holding the River Paddle. Now in its 5th year, the number of paddle participants has doubled in each year.

Held the last Saturday of June, this year’s Paddle will be held June 26 at 9 a.m. All boats and paddlers will meet at the Monadnock Paper Mill parking lot to coordinate boats, transportation, and launch. The paddle takes about three hours including a break for a snack. All Bennington residents and anyone else, are invited to join in the fun of opening up summer with a cruise down the Contoocook River to the old steel bridge.

Along with water, sunblock, a hat, and a life vest, participants should bring their canoe, kayak, paddle board, or any other recreational paddle float. Snacks will be provided.
