The Monadnock Food Co-op hosts the “How to Grow a Totally Organic Garden” workshop on April 19, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. with author Celeste Longacre. This event will be held at the Railroad Square Senior Housing Conference Room, 49 Community Way, Keene (across the parking lot from the Monadnock Food Co-op). Participants will learn the tools they need to plant and maintain an organic garden, including soil preparation, planting, weeding, thinning and harvesting.

A report from Food Solutions New England calls for the region to produce at least 50% of its food by 2060 – up from the current metric of producing 12%. Empowering individuals to grow their own food is a critical tool to help New England reach this goal: www.foodsolutionsne.org/new-england-food-vision/.

“The Co-op strives to offer workshops, such as this one with Celeste, that empower individuals to help create a more sustainable food system for New England and ensure healthy food access for all,” said Megan Straughen, the co-op’s Events, Education & Sustainability Coordinator.

This colorful and inspiring event is free, however registration is required. Visit the Monadnock Food Co-op website to register: monadnockfood.coop/event/grow-totally-organic-garden/
