A missing elderly woman with dementia who was last seen at the Rindge Market Basket on Monday has been found in Rhode Island, according to police.

Marion Sargent, 75, of Fitzwilliam, was found in Richmond, Rhode Island, on Tuesday around 6 p.m., according to Fitzwilliam police officer Jeffrey Clark. Clark said Sargent was found after a cab driver reported that Sargent had been driving erratically.

“She was triple parked the wrong way in a CVS parking lot,” said Clark. “We were told her physical condition was perfectly fine.”

Sargent was reported missing to Fitzwilliam police on Dec. 4, according to a press release. Sargent had left her residence for Rindge Market Basket at about 3 p.m. and was last seen on surveillance video leaving the store at 5:12 p.m.

Police issued a silver alert and reported her to the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) as a missing person.

“It was old school police work,” said Clark.

Fitzwilliam police had received a tip that Sargent was in Peterborough on Tuesday, but that turned out not to be the case.

“We received a tip that she had been seen at Ocean State Job Lot, but the tip didn’t pan out,” said Clark.
