The party of Trump

To the editor:

At this time, the Republican Party is moribund. In effect, it has been replaced by the party of Trump and it is uncertain if it will be able to recover. Under our system of government, the party or parties controlling the House and Senate have the responsibility to assert their control if the President acts irrationally or assumes powers that rightfully belong to other parts of the government. The leadership of the Republican Party has failed miserably to meet its responsibilities. At this time, it is the responsibility of the American electorate to assume control and clearly define how our government will meet the challenges which face us. The votes we cast this November and again in 2020 will determine the future of our country. This is a critical moment in our history and our future depends on the wisdom and common sense of the American voters.
