Sophomore Julieth Nwosu of the Franklin Pierce University women’s track & field team has earned both the Northeast-10 Conference Field Athlete of the Year and Field Rookie of the Year awards, as announced last week by the league office.

The accolades mark the fifth and sixth NE10 “of the Year” awards in the history of Franklin Pierce’s women’s program. Nwosu’s teammate, junior Paola Brena, has all the previous field awards, as she was selected as Field Rookie of the Year for both the 2018-19 indoor and 2019 outdoor seasons, as well as Field Athlete of the Year for the 2019-20 indoor campaign. On the track side, Katie Purves was Track Rookie of the Year for the 2017 outdoor season.

Nwosu was a standard bearer among NE10 field athletes throughout the spring season. She had the market cornered on NE10 Field Rookie of the Week accolades, which she claimed in five straight weeks, to go with one selection as Field Athlete of the Week. Nwosu was the NE10 champion in the shot put (13.30m) and took third in the discus (38.27m) to claim All-NE10 honors in both events at the NE10 Championships.

Nwosu was also a USTFCCCA All-Region performer in both events and is ranked 31st in the country in the shot put.
