A 58-year-old Antrim man has been indicted on seven counts of sexual abuse and kidnapping in connection to an alleged incident involving a girl under the age of 13.

Michael Annis, who is listed as residing at 28 Main Street on court documents, has not been arrested by officers, although he has been under investigation by local authorities since September.

Annis was indicted in 6th Circuit — District Division — Hillsborough court in April. He faces four charges for aggravated felonious sexual assault against a victim under the age of 13, one count of aggravated felonious sexual assault — pattern sexual assault, and two counts of kidnapping. The charges all include a victim, who is referred to as “K.L.” in the indictment.

Three of the charges against Annis state he allegedly touched the victim’s genitals, while at the same time sexually pleasuring himself.

He is also charged with knowingly confining “K.L” by locking the door to a camper and impeding her ability to exit, and blocking a door in a barn and physically restraining the girl’s ability to exit, both which occurred with the purpose of committing aggravated sexual assault.

The occurrences allegedly took place between July 22, 2015 and September 19, 2016, according to court’s indictment.

Each of the four aggravated felonious sexual assault charges and the one aggravated felonious sexual assault - pattern sexual assault charges constitute Class A felonies, which carry a prison sentence of 10 to 30 years in prison and a $4,000 fine.

The two kidnapping charges are both classified as Class B felonies, which carry a prison sentence of three and a half years to seven years and a $4,000 fine, if sentenced.

Antrim’s Police Chief Scott Lester said the crimes were allegedly committed in Antrim. He said the department has reason to believe Annis is no longer in the state, and suspect that he is in Florida.

The arraignment will take place on May 19 at 9 a.m.
