Apple Hill String Quartet in concert Friday night
The Apple Hill String Quartet will play at the Colonial Theatre on Friday at 8 p.m.
The concert will feature Elise Kuder and Colleen Jennings, violins, Michael Kelley, viola, and Rupert Thompson, cello, performing Joseph Haydn’s “Rider” String Quartet, American composer Meredith Monk’s only string quartet, “Stringsongs,” and Giuseppe Verdi’s only string quartet, which was written in Naples during a delay in a performance of the composer’s opera “Aida” due to the sudden illness of the star soprano.
In conjunction with the quartet’s performance at the Colonial Theatre, Apple Hill will be working with and performing at several schools in the area as part of the theater’s educational outreach program.
Tickets are $37 for adults and $29 for students and youth. Tickets are available at the box office and online at www.thecolonial.org.
For 43 years, Apple Hill has existed to create, perform, and teach chamber music at the highest standard, broaden the appreciation of chamber music through the development of educational programs, and cultivate connection and understanding among people of diverse backgrounds and cultures through the Playing for Peace program.
