Hi 28° | Lo 16°

River Center says thanks, at age 5

To the editor,

When I was 5 years old, I remember my mom sitting me down the day after my birthday and handing me a pencil and paper. She told me I was to write a Thank You to the people that had given me birthday gifts. This was something I had not done to that point. I thought gifts came in, you said “awesome” and “thank you” when you opened them and that was it — time to play!

Why should I have to write out a thank you card to someone? I had said it in person. I quickly learned that a thank you in writing holds its own special significance over one said in person. I’m 45 now, and the chair of the Board of Trustees for The River Center. We are 5-years-old now; time to sit down with pencil and paper and write a note.

Thank you to all of the people who have supported our organization throughout the past five significant years. In particular, I want to thank the significant donors and contributors to this year’s Spelling Bee. We raised over $32,000 as result of an outpouring of support from generous donors, organizations and community members.

We have grown, matured, learned from our mistakes, and grown stronger. We continue to dedicate our efforts to the communities of the eastern Monadnock region through our significant programs and services.

Awesome! Thank You! It’s play time!

Tom Weber

Chair, Board of Trustees
