Jaffrey police log: June 5, 2014
Wednesday, May 28
Arrest: At 1:30 a.m., police arrested James Nero, 56, of Troy for possession of marijuana and littering. He was released on a $1000 personal recognizance bail with a court date of June 26. A police officer stopped Nero for a traffic violation when he was driving his 2001 GMC Sierra on Monadnock Road. Police records say Nero admitted throwing the marijuana out of the vehicle prior to the stop.
Friday, May 30
Motor vehicle accident: At 7:33 a.m., Police responded to an accident on River Street. Police said Joshua Coll, 22, of Jaffrey was travelling north when he hit a deer that had came out from Tyler Hill Road. Coll’s vehicle suffered moderate damages. Reports indicate a resident of River Street approached the scene and took the deer, that had died before the police responded. Coll was given an operator’s report.
Sunday, June 1
Plates violation: At 7:00 p.m., police stopped Joseph Greene, 45, of Jaffrey on River Street. Police had found out that the 1997 Grand Cherokee Greene was driving was registered under Dennis Jewell, 37, of Jaffrey. Reports indicated that Greene’s license is valid but that all registrations for Jewell are suspended. Police seized the plates and Greene was allowed to park the vehicle at the Mobil station in Jaffrey until he could get the vehicle registered to his name. Police said charges may be forthcoming for Jewell.
Monday, June 2
Expired license: At 12:37 a.m., police stopped Gregory Caleb, 25, of Rindge on Stratton Road for a traffic violation. Police then learned that Caleb’s license has been expired since February. He was issued a must-appear summons for operating without a valid license and given a court date of July 3.
Motor vehicle accident: At 2:00 p.m., police responded to a two-car accident on Mountain Road. Police said that Gunilla Johanson, 70, of Jaffrey, driving a 2002 Volvo, was stopping to turn left onto Dublin Road when she was struck from behind by Susan Wadsworth, 58. of Rindge, who was driving a 2008 Honda. Neither of the drivers were injured. Both vehicles suffered relatively minor damages and were driven from the scene.
