‘Imagination’ is mixed-media show
An exhibit of solo works by Keene artist Bob Askey will be on exhibit at the Jaffrey Civic Center through Aug. 16.
Entitled “Imagination,” the exhibit features more than 150 pieces of art in various media including oils, watercolor, colored pencil, mixed media, pen and ink, graphite and etchings. The artist will be in the gallery during all open hours to conduct art demonstrations and lead art discussions.
Wallace Tripp will be a special guest artist with the exhibit. Wallace Tripp may well have been the best known artist in New Hampshire 30 years ago. He published nine of his own picture books and illustrated more than 35 more picture books for other authors and publishers. The animal characters he created experienced nationwide distribution as the stars of Pawprints, his greeting card company.
After 20 years of success, Tripp was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, ending his career.
Samples of Tripp’s books, cards and illustrations will be on display as an important part of this exhibit.
A unique feature of this exhibit is the “Free Raffle.” One of the pictures on display will be designated as the art to be awarded free of charge to the gallery visitor whose name is drawn from the raffle box.
The public is invited to an artist’s reception on Friday, July 25, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Admission is free. Hours are Tuesdays, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Wednesdays through Fridays, 1-5 p.m.; and Saturdays, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
