Letter: Kindness helped families in need
To the editor:
This recent holiday season was made much more joyful for many families and children supported by Monadnock Developmental Services, thanks to the kindness and generosity of an amazing group of individuals, businesses and organizations in our region.
For the 13th year in a row, employees of Kennedy Information in Peterborough sponsored a number of area families, providing toys, clothing, books, gift certificates, and gas and food cards to make Christmas a brighter day for them. Other companies whose employees sponsored families with holiday items, gifts and food baskets were C&S Wholesale Grocers, United Natural Foods of Chesterfield, and WKS-Residential Resources Inc. Borders’ donation of children’s books was used to raise money via book sales, bringing in several hundred dollars to go toward gifts for families.
Wally Reney, along with Toys for Tots and Douglas Toys, donated dozens of stuffed animals and toys for children connected with MDS. Lynn Belletete and Deirdre Bernier-Belletete donated Beanie Babies for all the children, and Janice Lanier created a useful list of holiday resources for families to use. We also want to thank Ruth Thompson, Lori Hickey, Patrick Wisell, the Messier family, the Broad-Vigneault family, the Ward family, Norma Leach, MDS employees, and many other community members who gave gifts and donations to help make a better Christmas for families in need in our region.
On behalf of everyone at MDS and the individuals and families we work with, we thank all of you for your generosity and good will.
