Horse driving clinic offered April 5-7 in Temple
Touchstone Farm is hosting a weekend carriage driving clinic with instructor Marc Johnson April 5-7. The clinic is appropriate for those interested in learning how to drive horse-drawn carriages or improve their driving skills.
The weekend begins Friday evening with dinner, followed by Johnson’s presentation on safely navigating cone and obstacle courses, share information about arena driving trials and show videos of recent competitions.
Lessons and practice will take place in the farm’s rings, open fields, and quiet back country roads or in the indoor ring if there is inclement weather.
Participants can sign up for a one-hour lesson with Johnson on Saturday or Sunday. Horses and turnouts are available or participants may bring their own. Auditors are also welcome to attend.
With more than 30 years of experience, Johnson has competed in World Four-in-Hand, pair and single driving championships. For the past 17 years, he has dedicated his time to training driving animals and drivers, organizing competitions, course designing, and being an American Driving Society technical delegate.
