Art tour reception to be held at civic center
Monadnock Art/Friends of the Dublin Art Colony will present their 18th annual Open Studio Tour on Oct. 12 and 13 with an art tour preview exhibition from Oct. 7 through 13.
The Monadnock region’s oldest art tour is held each October during the peak of the colorful foliage season in southwestern New Hampshire. The tour is self-directed, and is free of charge.
The tour winds through the towns surrounding Mount Monadnock: Dublin, Hancock, Harrisville, Jaffrey, Marlborough, Peterborough and Sharon. During this year’s tour, 55 artists will welcome visitors to 49 studios. Distinctive art tour signs help visitors find their way.
A full range of visual arts is represented by the work of the artists. Visitors can the workplaces of painters, printmakers, potters, jewelers, sculptors, fiber artists, photographers, woodworkers, glass artists, and others. Most artists offer work for sale, often specially priced.
Printed art tour brochures/maps are available throughout the region, and at the Peterborough and Jaffrey chambers of commerce. Maps and more information along with images of work by member artists, can be found at www.MonadnockArt.org.
The Art Tour 18 Preview Exhibition may be viewed at the Jaffrey Civic Center during the days preceding and throughout the Art Tour weekend, beginning with an opening reception on Oct. 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public and light refreshments will be served.
Examples of work by participating artists will be on display in at the center on the second floor. Hours are Oct. 8 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Oct. 9-11 from 1 to 5 p.m., and Oct. 12-13 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
