ConVal SAU wins food drive

The staff of the ConVal SAU office won the first annual district-wide canned food drive, sponsored by the ConVal National Honor Society in support of Hunger Action Month in September. A total of 3,405 cans were collected from all the teams.

All 11 schools in the district: the elementary schools, the middle schools, and the high school; the SAU office; and the School Board participated. The number of cans each school brought in was counted as a percentage of the school’s population, giving every school a chance to win.

The SAU office collected 8.03 cans per person. Cans were gathered the week of Sept. 23, with the final tally on Sept. 27.

Superintendent Brendan Minnihan presented a trophy to the winning team on Oct. 8. The food was distributed to each school’s area food bank to help those in need.
