Geo challenge was place to be
To the editor:
The Mariposa Museum’s Third Annual Geography Challenge on Oct. 20 has once again amazed and amused us. We enjoyed the fun, food and costumes, and we learned that Finland has more islands than any other nation in the world.
We thank our 30 intrepid participants and congratulate our winning team, The Magi, consisting of Frank Incense (Mick Induni), Gold’n Child (Sam Induni), and Myrrh’v Griffin (Jim Callahan) and the runners-up, the Magellan 3 (Sean, Caleb and Jonas O’Mara). Thanks also go to emcee Irv Richardson, judges Pamela White and Warren Hammack, scorer Sue Martin, timer John van Besien and sound man Henry Moreau.
A link to photos of the Geo Challenge can be seen on the Mariposa home page (www.mariposamuseum.org).
Volunteers are the backbone of an event like this. To all of you, our deepest thanks.
Finally, we recognize the Finlay Foundation, which provided a matching grant, and the many sponsors who helped us to reach that match: Antioch University New England, A.W. Peters, the Bergeron Family, Concord Street Health Institute, Discover Europe, Edgewood Solutions, GFA Federal Credit Union, High Standard, InHaus Media, Joseph’s Coat, Keating Plumbing & Heating, New England Wood Pellet, PSNH, RBC Wealth Management, RiverMead, Rosaly’s Garden, Sage with Thyme Catering, Steele’s Stationers, The Ellerkamp Company, The Old Farmer’s Almanac for Kids and Wireless Zone. Our inkind sponsors were Aesop’s Tables, Eighth Wonder, the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript, the NH Geographic Alliance and Visual Graphic Systems of New York City.
