Robert O’Brien almost beat Kearsarge by himself on Friday night, as he led the Oriole boys to a 65-37 road win on the strength of his 33 points. Eli Hodgson notched a double-double in the win, tallying 13 points and 13 rebounds. The now 2-0 Orioles’ next game is Friday night at 7 against Keene in the Keene holiday tournament.
∎ The ConVal boys fell to 0-2 on the season after a 59-50 loss to Milford on Friday night. The Cougars play Monadnock on Thursday at 7:30 in the Keene Holiday tournament.
∎ The Mascenic girls put on their best defensive effort of the year so far on Friday night, holding Hillsboro-Deering to a paltry 13 points in the Vikings’ 29-13 victory.
Senior Sarah Sharp was the top-scoring Viking once again, notching 12. Liz Martel added eight of her own. Mascenic (1-2) is next in action on Jan. 3 at Campbell.
∎ The WLC boys fell in a barnburner at Epping on Friday night, 87-73. The 1-1 Warriors’ next game is at Pittsfield on Jan. 7.
∎ The Mascenic boys topped Hillsboro-Deering on Friday night by a score of 62-49. Jared Stauffeneker scored 23, Eric deBettencourt had 12 points and 10 boards and Shane Rautiola scored 10 as well. Mascenic (1-0) plays Hinsdale in the Keene holiday tournament on Friday at 11:30 a.m.
∎ The Conant girls beat Kearsarge at home on Thursday night, 55-46 after trailing 25-24 at halftime. The Orioles’ Kelsey Martin left the game with an injury; no word yet on how long she might miss. Conant (2-0) plays Hillsboro-Deering on Jan. 3 at 7 p.m.
∎ The ConVal girls team beat Manchester West last Tuesday 54-28 behind Jess Nerz’s 25 points, eight boards and four assists. Jordan Mills ended up with an incredible 11 steals in the victory. The 1-1 Cougars host Milford on Jan. 3 at 6:30 p.m.
