Town Hall info meeting tonight

FRANCESTOWN — The future home of town meetings, voting and events will be the focus of resident input tonight at a public hearing on the $1 million Town Hall restoration project.

At 7 p.m., the Select Board and Heritage Commission will host the first of at least two public hearings to gather resident input about the restoration of the Town Hall, according to an email from Town Administrator Mike Branley. Once fully restored, the Town Hall could house Town Meeting, voting, meet the candidates, public hearings, recitals, auctions, the fireman’s supper, educational events, dances, and more, as residents suggested at Town Meeting.

Architect Mike Petrovick will present the project tonight for discussion in terms of budget, function and historic preservation, according to the Francestown online calendar.

The town approved a $350,000 bond for the restoration project this past March at Town Meeting, with 132 in favor and 46 opposed. The project is estimated to be completed by December 2019, according to the 2014 Town Warrant.

The public hearing will take place in the lower level of the town offices.
