Peterborough Police Log: Jan. 30, 2014
Tuesday, Jan. 21
Accident: At 5:06 p.m., Dean Marshall, 45, of Keene, driving a 2013 BMW, was turning from Route 101 onto Granite Street when he collided with a 2007 Toyota Matrix, driven by Melanie Young, 43, of Peterborough, who was pulling out of Granite Street. No one was injured. Young’s car had damage to the front bumper and Marshall’s car had damage to the driver’s rear quarter panel. Both cars were driven away.
Theft report: At 6:04 p.m. a Colonial Square resident reported the theft of personal belongings.
Arrest: At 9:27 p.m., after responding to a report of a domestic disturbance, police took Kyle Broderick, 24 of Peterborough into protective custody and took him to Monadnock Community Hospital for evaluation. Broderick was admitted to the hospital as an involuntary emergency admission. He was also arrested and charged with criminal mischief — vandalism, and obstructing report of a crime or injury.
Wednesday, Jan. 22
Arrest: At 6:45 a.m., Jaffrey police arrested Benjamin Sprague, 27, of Jaffrey on a Peterborough warrant, charging him with aggravated felonious sexual assault. Sprague was arraigned in Keene District Court and bail was set at $50,000 cash. Sprague is being held at the Hillsborough County House of Corrections.
Hit and run: At 8:07 a.m., a Prescott Hill Apartments tenant reported both of her cars had been hit while parked overnight. Both vehicles had damage to front bumpers. Police identified a driver who admitted to hitting the parked cars. His vehicle also had damage to the front bumper. Police prepared an accident report and a conduct after an accident offense report. No one has been charged.
Accident: At 12:34 p.m., Christopher Black, 43, of Peterborough reported hitting a deer on MacDowell Road. His 2013 Ford Escape had damage to the bumper area. The deer was killed.
Accident: At 2:24 p.m., Emily Smith, 28, of Watertown, Mass., backed her 2008 Toyota Yaris into a 2005 Chrysler Sebring, owned by Sharon Blanchette, 67, of Greenfield, that was parked at the gas pumps at the Big Apple convenience store. Both cars had minor damage.
Assist: At 4:30 p.m., police assisted firefighters on Ashlee Drive, where smoke had been reported in an attic. An electrical issue was brought under control by the Fire Department.
Thursday, Jan. 23
Hit and run: At 12:09 p.m., Iva Demartelly, 18, of Nelson reported her 1997 Honda Civic had been hit while parked at ConVal High School. The driver’s side front bumper was damaged.
