Sunflowers Cafe is the Jaffrey Chamber’s business of the year

Sunflowers, Monadnock Bible Conference to be honored at annual dinner

The Jaffrey Chamber of Commerce has named Sunflowers Cafe and Catering as the 2013 Business of the Year.

Carolyn Edwards, the proprietor operated the restaurant in Fitzwilliam for almost five years before moving to downtown Jaffrey in 2009. Edwards has contributed her time, money and goods to a vast array of charitable initiatives in the community, such as Santa’s House, the Jaffrey Civic Center, The Park Theatre project, just to name a few.

She also offers the space in the restaurant for local groups to meet. In addition, she offers the cafe as a space for local artists to display their work in five-week exhibits, and offers the cafe as a place for receptions for the artists.

Sunflowers will be honored with an award at the Jaffrey Chamber Annual Dinner on Feb. 26 at the Shattuck Golf Club in Jaffrey.

Monadnock Bible Conference Center is the chamber’s 2013 Nonprofit of the Year.

Monadnock Bible Conference is a Christian youth and family camp that serves all of New England throughout the entire year.

They have summer camps for kids, summer and winter middle school and high school camps, as well as camping weeks and weekends for family and adult groups.

The mission of the conference center is “drawing those we serve to relationship with Christ by meeting physical, emotional and spiritual needs.”

Events held at the conference center at no cost to the Monadnock community include: winter and spring carnivals, the Foundations for success Middle school program, the December chamber breakfast, where donations are given to Santa’s House, and the Cub Scouts end of the year picnic/outing.

Monadnock Bible Conference will also be honored at the annual meeting on Wednesday.
