The town of Jaffrey removed five trees behind the old burying ground, opening up a view of Mount Monadnock from the perspective of the Jaffrey Center Meetinghouse.

Jaffrey resident Ken Campbell said he was excited to see the trees removed.

“It’s great to have an expanded view of the mountain. Before you couldn’t even see the approach to the mountain from the west; now you can see up to the peak,” Campbell said in a recent interview.

Town Manager Dave Caron addressed the tree removal late last week.

“The town annually raises money to maintain trees around our cemeteries. As a town, we look at these trees every year. It just so happen to be that by removing these trees, we opened up a nice view of Monadnock,” said Caron.

According to Caron, the funds for the tree removal came from the town’s two trust funds run by the cemetery trustees.
